SCHULTZ HEADLINES CAB'S "LOL COMEDY SHOW"

by Jennifer Guccione

Nationally recognized comedian Flip Schultz performed a one-man show for the Campus Activities Board's (CAB) "LOL Comedy Show" on Wednesday, Jan. 28 in the Student Union Theater. Schultz's comedic content ranged from household chores and pets, to TV shows and movies.

"That was the funniest thing I have ever seen in my life," said communication major Hannah Bergeron.

According to his myspace profile www.myspace.com/flipschultz, Schultz always knew he wanted to be a comedian. He began putting on acts for family and friends at the age of eight. Later on, after many performances at local bars and pubs, he received his Batchelor of Fine Arts Degree from Florida Atlantic University. He has been a part of many national venues, including NBC's "Last Comic Standing 4," Comedy Central's "Live At Gotham," CBS' "Star Search" and HBO's "Latino Laugh Festival."

In his show, Schultz commented on everything from the bad weather and his allergy to cats, to being a self-proclaimed nerd and rock star. He did impersonations of Heath Ledger in "The Dark Knight," Justin Timberlake and Stephen Hawking. His most popular impersonation was an Austrailian rock star whose hit singels were "Diggery Do You" and "Wounded Butterfly." Schultz also joked about other comedians, by pretending to be a pirate comedian and a Middle Eastern comedian.

"How does a pirate quit smoking?" asked Schultz. "He uses the patch."

He also attempted to explain women to the men of the audience.

"You see guys, to women, men are just Mr. Potatoe Heads with interchangeable parts," said Schultz. "And then after they have changed everything about you so that you now meet their requirements, they break up with you. Why? Because you've changed!"

"I absolutely loved him," said nursing major Sarah Baggett.

"The night was an over success," said BreAnna Malancon, a CAB sudent assistant. "We had a good turnout and everyone seemed to have a good time."

"I thought it was great," said Schultz when asked what he thought of the evening. "I didn't expect it to be that good but the crowd was so warm and inviting. And plus, it's always good to laugh."
